Apart from imparting regular training for DGET and SCVT approved trades the following activities also performed for the benefit of the society.

Candidates, who had undergone Non-formal training in the form of In-company apprenticeships, are issued State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) approved certificates, after passing the helper competency examination in the field of wireman and plumber. Exams are held in the month of October/November once in three years. Plumber helper competency examination was conducted in the year 2008 and the upcoming examination is scheduled to be conducted in the year 2011. Likewise the Wireman helper competency examination is being conducted this year. Hundreds of trainees are being benefited by means of certification for their acquired skills.

Ministry of Labour & Employment undertook development of a new strategic framework for skill development for early school leavers and existing workers, especially in the un-organised sector in close consultation with industry, micro enterprises in the un-organised sector, State Governments, experts and academia which were essential considering their educational, social and economic background. The main objective of the scheme is to provide employable skills to school leavers, existing workers, ITI graduates, etc. Existing skills of the persons can also be tested and certified under this scheme.
